ABC CHAPTER PROGRAMS

The ABC Student Chapters Program is a dynamic network of nearly 50 colleges and universities offering construction-related degree programs nationwide. At the local level, student chapters facilitate the interaction of ABC member firms, construction faculty, and college students through a variety of industry association and school events including regular membership meetings, guest speakers, internships, community service projects, fundraisers, career fairs/career awareness events, job site tours, and other activities.

Benefits to ABC Student Chapter members include scholarships; excellence awards; an annual construction management competition; faculty teaching awards; fellowships to attend the ABC Legislative Conference; an annual essay contest; and much more.

In addition to the Student Chapters, ABC provides many of its education, training and safety programs through partnerships and articulation agreements with college and universities.

HBI JOB CORPS PROGRAMS

HBI has partnered with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program for nearly 30 years, training and placing more than 2,000 young people annually in the residential construction industry. Students enrolled in Job Corps learn the construction skills they will need to pursue careers in home building. At the same time they build their lives, they also help meet the workforce needs of the housing industry where more than 200,000 new workers are needed each year.

Job Corps is the nation’s oldest and largest residential education and job training program for at-risk youth. Real-life, hands-on training helps young people acquire the three pieces of the employment puzzle: Trades Training, Basic Academics and Employable Skills.
