The letters in the table correspond to the letters in the drawings of plan, front elevation and section. The light blue areas on the drawings indicate materials installed when the chimney is built, and the dark blue area shows those parts installed with the finished fireplace. To best use the table, first find the width of the fireplace opening in the far left column of the table and then read along the row to find the appropriate dimensions for the other parts of the fireplace.

The dimensions for the letter I are listed to provide a minimum thickness of the fireback.
